Since 2012 when I left hospital work as a nurse to start my own community care agency I’ve taken every opportunity I can to help educate everyone who will listen about all the good that community care has to offer.
In fact, many of the over 100 articles I’ve written are focused on this including this one from 2016 that focused specifically on all the benefits of moving less complex care needs out of the hospital and into the home.
Then COVID-19 came, and everything changed
When COVID-19 came, everything just sped up
Suddenly, moving care out of a facility setting and into the home became an imperative instead of an option.
Suddenly families everywhere were calling and asking whether community care could help them delay transitions to a group living settings such as long-term care and retirement homes.
In many cases they were even wondering whether they could use community care resources to reverse those transitions altogether.
That’s why home care is the answer now more than ever
But many people are still skeptical about that because they don’t know what home care is or how much community care has to offer to help them.
So here again are the top 3 ways that home care can help
#1 – Yes we can help, even in very complex cases
Over the years at CalaCare we have been privileged to help families dealing with some of the most complex scenarios:
- complex medication
- bed-bound clients
- palliative care
- cancer care
Our staff are highly trained and have access 24/7 access to our team of Nurse Care Managers which enables them to handle even the most complex clients. If you’re worried you’re the exception, you might be surprised, give us a call and find out!
#2 – Yes we can help, even with very complex schedules
Our team is happy to provide care that is completely flexible and is 100% tailored to what you need
- we provide visits for as short as 1 hour a month
- we also can provide up to 24-hours a day or live-in care if that’s what you need
- we have caregivers available to drive clients as needed
- we are experts in scheduling care on a moments notice
- we take pride in changing our schedules as your needs change, no matter how often
#3 – Yes we can help, even if that means helping you find other options besides us
Our team takes pride in helping families navigate the health care system.
That means we often help families secure other services from other providers if that’s what they need.
When you speak to one of our Nurse Care Managers you are speaking to someone who is going to partner with you to help you find the resources you need no matter where to source them from. You can rely on that.
I believe that COVID-19 will pass soon and that life will return to normal for all of us. I look forward to it!
But in the meantime the crisis has definitely confirmed again for me the mission we have to educate people about what home care has to offer and help them realize that staying home is an option no matter what their situation.
If you’re wondering about what home care might be able to offer you or your family member then please reach out to us and maybe we can help!
