Proudly local and independent – Learn about the CalaCare family!
Since Jennifer founded CalaCare in 2012 we have grown simply by ‘doing it right one person at a time’ and that’s what we want to do for you!
We are a small local company based in Oakville and Burlington (Go Jays!) and we would love to show you how we treat every client as if they were a member of our family!
Meet The Founder
Jennifer Kazmaier is a Registered Nurse, and the Founder & President of CalaCare Ltd.
Jennifer obtained her Bachelors of Science in Nursing from the University of Toronto and also holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Queen’s University. She founded CalaCare out of a passion to help seniors and those living with serious illness or injury to remain as independent as possible. She began her career as a nurse in the Emergency Department and repeatedly saw the need for one-on-one care to prevent complications, improve recovery, and provide much needed respite for family caregivers.
Jennifer also brings a unique perspective to her leadership positions because as a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner for the regional sexual assault and domestic violence center, Jennifer worked with victims of elder abuse, and feels strongly about the need to empower vulnerable older adults, and educate families about managing the stress of their role as a caregiver. Through the home care services provided by CalaCare, Jennifer hopes to relieve the stress of caregiving and educate families on constructive methods of coping with common challenges of caring for a loved one at home.
Jennifer spent several years in the private sector and worked for Best Doctors Canada where she became a skilled coach for patients and their families who are coping with critical illness and navigating Canada’s complicated health care system. Patient advocacy is most powerful when the patient is provided with information and support, which strips away the all too common paternalistic approach to medical care.
Jennifer is licensed to practice nursing through the College of Nurses of Ontario, and is a member of the Registered Nurses Association of Ontario.
